The Martha Stewart Show: Live

About two weeks ago I posted about the talented Darcy Miller and her appearance on The Martha Stewart Show. Imagine my complete surprise when she commented on that post and further invited me to a taping of the show! Today was the taping and there was no amount of ice or snow that was going to prevent me from getting to New York.

I wasn't sure what to expect as this was my first television taping experience, but from the moment I walked through the door I was treated with consideration and kindness. Walking onto the set was a surreal moment. I watch her show daily and the set was magnificent in person. The kitchen is much larger than it looks on television, and I was quite taken with all of the decorations. Martha's show today was a countdown to Valentine's Day and the entire set was dripping with pink and red - divine I tell you. To say I was in heaven would be an understatment. And, it just kept getting better. The audience supervisor, Jackie, seated me in the front row, and then I found out that Darcy was actually doing two of the segments. Someone please pinch me!

I know this all sounds trivial but this was such a thrill for me. I adore Darcy Miller and Martha Stewart and all that they embody. It was a day that I won't soon forget and am so very thankful to Darcy for securing the ticket of the taping for me. Darcy was featured in the first two segments and did not disappoint. I appreciate her realism and her banter with Martha during the segments was both friendly and comfortable. She is such an endearing spirit. My only regret is not being able to meet her and tour her office (it's still on my list, Darcy!).

The segments used all of the alloted time of the live show, but Martha answered a few audience questions after the taping ended - including one of mine. I asked her how to celebrate Cutter's birthday without going overboard, and she pointed me to her website for some party ideas and reassured me that he wouldn't remember it anyway. A cupcake would suffice. Thank you, Martha!
