Six Months

**Blogger is not allowing me to upload her pictures and so for now, simply text. Boring, I know.

Oh, 6 months! The 19th is here just like that.

Continuing on in her health we traveled to Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania just last week to address some of the inconsistencies revealed in her lab work. Our appointment was in the metabolic disease division, a division we truly never even knew existed until these abnormalities presented themselves. Excessive histories were given, questions were asked and answered, and we prayed over our little girl as she went through another series of lab work to confirm the abnormal levels she had exhibited at last draw.

Just today we got the results back. She has a few issues that are still present, but the prayers that have been answered by her heavenly Father are countless. She does not have any disease that merits medicating at present, her diet remains unchanged, there are no urgent and pressing alerts; our daughter is developing and growing at a normal (albeit small) rate and we are grateful for every single smile that creeps across her deliciously scrumptious face. There are still some things we need to monitor and follow up on, but the fact remains that she is a joyful, beaming, radiant child of God that we are blessed to call our daughter. It would seem as if I quite possibly could not love her with any more of my heart.

This sixth month has again presented us with a daily reminder that our child is in God’s hands. He has carried her through each day and given her to us with arms outstretched encouraging us to love harder, love stronger, and love deeper than we ever thought possible. She has undoubtedly strengthened my husband and I in our marriage and our roles as mother and father have been exponentially deepened.  She makes our hearts sing for joy at the amazing creation of systems, blood cells, enzymes, and more that God has formed together in each of us, specifically our children. How can you but fall to your knees in awe at the awesomeness that He is?!

At 6 months, Scout is:

- Wearing size 6 month clothes (some 3-6 month still)

- Wearing size 2 diapers, size 3 at night

- Official height and weight are at next week’s check-up (at CHOP she was at 13.5 pounds)

- Switched to a 4-hour schedule the day after the last month post and did so easily.
Our typical day: I wake her at 7 am and have a bottle (7 oz) and breakfast (oatmeal and 2-3 oz of fruit), up until 8:30 or 8:45 and down for a nap, up at 11 am and have a bottle, lunch with Cutter at noon (2-3 oz of fruit and 2-3 oz of vegetable), down for nap 12:30 or 12:45, up at 3 pm and have a bottle, down for catnap from 4-5 pm, dinner with the family at 5:30 (oatmeal and 2-3 oz of vegetable), bath, bottle, and down for the night around 6 pm.

- So yes, napping three times a day still.

- Eating butternut squash, sweet potatoes, avocadoes, carrots, peas (not a fan at all), pears, peaches, and prunes.

- Eats all of her meals in her highchair; such a big girl!

- Proudly sits up unsupported but I haven’t seen her get up on her own yet

- Rolls all over the place

- Still enjoying the delicacy of her feet and fingers

- I thought we might be teething but no teeth (yet!)

- Happily scooping up toys and putting them in her mouth

- Loves when we sing and clap with her, and playing with Daddy

- Ticklish!

- Blowing raspberries and sticking her tongue out again with force. She had figured it out some time ago but it’s back with a vengeance this month!

Firsts this month:
A day with daddy (mommy had a bridal shower to attend)
Highchair
Ergo wearing; she had been too small to wear her without the insert and she didn’t like it so we had been using the Bjorn

So thankful that she is doing much better and that all seems to be ok. I have been praying for you and for little Scout. God has big things planned for her and for her family!
