We celebrated my mother’s birthday last weekend with an afternoon of family, food, and drinks. Love, love, love summer birthdays!
Those closest and dearest to her were present (save a few notable absences) to celebrate another year of her life. This birthday marked her first as a grandmother, hence the first “Happy Birthday Gramie” birthday card. Such milestones we mark in our lives.
Cutter developed a trick just for his Gramie on her birthday – sticking out his tongue. Needless to say my mother was pleased as punch that Cutter would reveal such a parlor trick on her special day. And it was JUST for her, you see.
I love my mother so very much and treasure our relationship. We are very close to one another and always have been. This past year of living together has put us through a number of tests, most notable of which would be the sharing of a kitchen. It is very hard for a woman (at least in my case) to give up complete control of the kitchen. I know when I lived in my own house with Steve it was very hard for me to let someone else do the dishes or put food away. I am a strong, type A personality and am very particular about where things go and how they are to be stored. My mother has been beyond gracious in allowing me to infiltrate her kitchen and sprinkle some of my organizational pet peeves here and there.
She is my best girl friend in the world and I just am so happy to have her in my life.
Happy Birthday Mom – I love you so very much.
