Mobile

When I was planning Cutter's nursery one of the items on my list of "must-have's" proved to be rather elusive - a crib mobile. I didn't like many of the mainstream options available and Steve objected to many of the more eccentric ones I suggested. A friend of mine from middle school, Kathryn, had recently had a baby girl (Ava) and I remembered liking the mobile she had for her daughter. It turns out that she (like me) is thrifty, crafty, and resourceful. She had seen a themed room from PBK that she really liked, but decided to save a few bucks and re-create the scene for herself. One of the pieces that tied it all together was the hand-made mobile of butterflies. Kathryn's home-made mobile of butterflies for her daughter, Ava.
I asked her how she made it and she graciously revealed her secrets to me. I kept thinking I would have a craft project to keep myself busy in those last months of pregnancy when I had nothing better to do - ha.
It turns out I was a little more busy than I thought I would have been, and she graciously offered to make the mobile as Cutter's gift and I was immediately both relieved and ecstatic.
This past week we were able to cross paths and introduce our offspring to one another. I told Cutter to behave himself since he would be entertaining an older woman after all (Ava is a mere 13 months older than he). It was the first time that Kathryn and I had actually seen each other since high school. We had a short but lovely visit and Cutter received his mobile. I affixed the remaining strings that Kathryn had assembled prior and voila - we had our mobile. Steve hung it over the weekend and Cutter found it right away. For those keeping track - yes - we moved the recent Wall Art over to the right so that we could hang the mobile over the crib and still view said 'C.'
I've walked in the past two mornings to find him looking up at it with wide eyed curiousity.
It is the perfect compliment to the nursery.

Is it not the most beautiful mobile you've ever seen?

Thank you Kathryn!
