In true holiday fashion we celebrated Christmas six times this year - yes, we just couldn't get enough of all the celebrating so we said bring on the Christmas cheer! In all fairness, we are fortunate to have all of our family close enough that we can see them all over the course of a few days. This year we were even able to have Steve's brother and his family come up from Nashville for just a few days, so that we really did have everyone in town at one point or another.
All of our soirees were magnificent and included many a question relating to my expectant state. It is so hard to believe that next year we will be doing this with probably a 10 month old in tow (though, believe me, at this point I am rooting for an 11 month old).
Even amidst all of the driving around and visiting, we were able to pause a few times to remember what we are really celebrating during this time of year, and each time it was such a breath of fresh air. I included this verse on our Christmas card this year, and perhaps because I am pregnant, God's word affects me much differently this time around.
In the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11
We have much to be grateful and thankful for in our lives, and most important is the birth of Jesus Christ - His life and resurrection, that saves even the likes of me. Word of God, speak.
Tomorrow I'll begin packing away all of the decorations, commencing gift returns, and stashing away the Christmas music until next year. My focus now is on this baby boy, and his imminent arrival. Lord, God pretty please make it sooner rather than later.
