Grampie's Birthday

We recently celebrated the 75th birthday of my grandfather, more affectionately known as Grampie, with a lavishly festive fashion show. Each of his children and their spouses dressed in a fashion that captured the style from each decade of his life. It was such a fun way to celebrate his life and the many, many things that have happened to him and his family over the years.

I read from a script of his life’s events that took us from his birth, to his deviant days as a school child, to his proposal and marriage to my grandmother and his ensuing time in the military serving in Germany. We re-lived the births of his four children, nine grandchildren, numerous marriages, and the now impending arrival of his first great-grandchild. He has done so much in his life, and all of it has been highlighted by the surrounding love of his family. He was impressed with our show, and I loved the outfits that everyone came up with. It was such a great celebration.
