Easter Weekend

Part 2: The Weekend

On Saturday we celebrated with the Cronin side of Steve's family. With the recent passing of Steve's grandfather the time spent with our family that weekend was all the more enjoyable and encouraging. Cutter enjoyed his meal at the infamous kid's table with the rest of (us) kids, and I ingested no less than three of the most delectable peanut butter eggs I have ever tasted. Cutter showed off his adept walking skills and convinced his Great Aunt to take him outside for a long walk. I'm pretty sure it had something to do with his smile.

Sunday morning we awoke to some of the most glorious sunshine and singing birds, even they couldn't stop from rejoicing in the Risen Saviour of the day! Cutter was visited by the Easter Bunny before we left for church, and in typical toddler fashion was captivated by bubbles for the rest of the morning. We took our family picture before we left, and I must say that I am in love with two of the most handsome men. Those smiles just melt my heart.

Church was replete with powerful readings of the Word of God, hymns of praise and glory, and a message written seemingly with our mourning hearts in mind. God is perfect and he meets us where we are at, my friends.

The mercury continued to rise, so that by the time we arrived home, a change of clothes was in order for all. Cutter could not have been more relieved to shed his shirt and tie, and I didn't blame him one bit. I for one was eager to change into something more temperature appropriate. Regretfully, my closet was not quite in form for such a mild day, and so my attire was not nearly what I had envisioned.

The Wilson's (my mom's family) joined us to celebrate the rest of the day, and we prepared an egg hunt for Cutter in which he did not disappoint in the least. It seems he needed no direction whatsoever, and when presented with a lawn full of eggs, he presently advanced towards them, picked them up, and placed them in his basket. Not before, of course, shaking them to make sure that indeed they were filled with something of a prize (of the goldfish variety, I assure you). Oh this kid makes me laugh!

Dinner was traditional; ham, potatoes, green beans, deviled eggs, and rolls. Easter dinner is not a meal that one messes with. Dessert was a veritable smorgasbord of sugar - I nearly sent myself into a coma. Bunny cake, red velvet cake, bunny creme puffs, jelly beans, chocolate, sugar cookies - all of which were delectable.

Cutter went to sleep dreaming of bubbles, bouncing balls, and water I am sure.

In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” Then they remembered his words. Luke 24: 5-8
